Men’s Summer Shorts are the Sartorial answer to women’s Yoga Pants.
A lot of times men ask me, what is the men’s sartorial answer to women’s yoga pants that have taken the world by storm?
To dive into that question, one must examine what is the charm of women’s yoga pants and why they went viral ?
Women’s yoga pants are equivalent to Spanx that you can wear outside. They compress and lift in the right places as well as provide versatility and freedom of movement.
You can easily go from working out at the gym to the restaurant with only slight modifications in wardrobe and still keep yoga pants on. (I think from my previous blog post some of you might know about my current “love affair” with yoga pants).
So what would be the men’s fashion answer? I believe they are not another men spandex pants but rather classic American SHORTS!
Shorts provide that casual coolness and comfort for men as yoga pants provide for women…some men even do yoga in shorts (although I am not sure if it is comfortable in that case). They don’t compress and lift the butt, but they are as versatile as yoga pants.
Men can wear shorts to the beach, to the office, to grab a quick bite and to play golf…it’s comfortable and looks chic!
One of my favorite brands is Old Bull Lee from Manhattan Beach California. www.oldbulllee.com
They make everything in California; shorts look stylish and with the highest possible attention to details, which sometimes only the wearer knows.
Since summer season is here and 4th of July is approaching, I thought I’ll mention them for my fashion conscious friends, just in case they want to try on a New Summer Look for their backyard barbeque!
I was in my yoga class meditating, after we finished the “challenging” routine, when I’ve opened my eyes before everybody else did and in an instant had a “Eureka” moment!
I looked at the people in the room who were still sitting with their eyes closed and meditating and I ” figured out” why Mona Lisa is smiling!
I have never read if there is a specific research done about this but looking at the Mona Lisa’s smile and at the peaceful smile at the faces of people in meditation I could not help but notice the parallel in both.
Today is Black Friday, which means non-stop shopping in the stores: Christmas gifts, clothes, technology…etc. I thought about it and I asked myself- “Do we have to always buy new things to update the way we look?”
Then I thought about this video for Komarov.com that I did a while back. This shows different techniques of tying a scarf that lets you update your look without an entirely new wardrobe.
I am not against buying new clothes since I feel new clothes/outfits do inspire and refresh us at some level (and actually I will write about the whole philosophy behind it pretty soon). But today my point was -that, you DON’T HAVE TO always buy new clothes in order to refresh your look, you can just take a few scarf’s and Voila –have a Fresh and Trendy new look while saving money!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you had a great year and have many things to be grateful for. My yoga instructor says that feeling of gratitude acts like a “reboot” system in our bodies. When we sit down quietly and think about all those things that we are grateful for, out bodies tend to relax, stress tends to subside and we feel overall sense of well-being that is rejuvenating for our body and mind.
So wishing you to “reboot” your systems and have a great time!
And I am grateful for the wonderful WordPress community that we have here!
Hope you were able to do something French today as an homage to Bastille day which 225 years ago, dramatically altered the course of the human history.
There are so many “French things” to experience that it is challenging to choose from: French fashion, French fries. French songs , French kisses…
In this picture I am trying to capture French: Bleu, Blanc et Rouge (colors of the French flag: liberté (freedom: blue), égalité (equality: white), fraternité (brotherhood: red),…. although I should add some more RED, just lipstick is not enough….
I don’t watch a lot of TV these days, since I only have Netflix, and I normally don’t watch it either for the lack of time, so when I finally got time this weekend, I went on a “movie binge” and watched 2 movies back to back!
I watched Steve Jobs and The Social Network (both for the first time I must say).
Loved both movies!
Not because of cinematography or costumes, that I usually gravitate towards, but for the inspiring stories. Both of the characters Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg had something in common which made both of them not only eccentric and socially awkward characters but something else that let them change the world in a way that was never done before.
What were those unifying characteristics?
I would summarize it as -” the passionate belief in the impossible”!
That was something that Christian religion introduced more than 2000 years ago. It was something that I always treated as part of the beautiful legend without even ever understanding what it really meant.
Now I have learned from the “tech gods” that It is essentially the belief in the” limitless possibilities”…Both Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg dared to believe in the impossible with such conviction and passion that people around them thought they are crazy.
The truth is they were able to acheive the impossible and unify the world that has never done before.
How does it relate to Christianity?
It connects with the belief of the resurrection of the Christ. Resurrecting from death is the most impossible thing on Earth. If you truly belief that Christ resurrected it means that “impossible is nothing” and that is exactly what great thinkers “..the misfits, …the rebels, …the crazy ones” believe in.
One of the best ways to pumper yourself is to take a bath, put on a nice music and light up some candles. Warm water helps muscles to relax . Relaxed muscles send signal to the brain, that “everything is fine you can relax” and brain follows the body and slowly calms down.
The whole experience can only improve by adding some aromatic salts into the water.
Here is one of my favorite DIY recipes ( I absolutely love the smell of rose in this!)
Dried rose petals
Rose water or rose essential oil
1 cup Epsom salt
2/3 cup powdered milk
Mix ingredients together and add a scoop to the bath water .
It is great for skin, mind and spirit, try and let me know 🙂
Spring is always the most romantic season. In Los Angeles Spring happens to be in January: cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the air is perfumed with flowers, spring wind and ocean breeze…
I am truly enjoying it because March, April and May might be so cold that I would need to wear fur coats…but why waist time thinking about what is going to be, instead of living in the moment …I choose this moment 🙂
